WOODSIDE ENERGY

Jayne Baird
Jayne Baird was inspired to succeed at university by the example of her mother Mary, who worked during the day and attended night school to get a degree after her husband passed away. Jayne was one of the less wealthy students at the University of London and also one of only a few women studying geology. But she was determined to succeed and went on to complete a Master’s.
After starting her career in oil and gas in Aberdeen, Jayne and her family moved to Perth in 2005 where she found work at Woodside rising to Head of International New Ventures, and VP for Africa, Europe and Americas. Her current role as Vice President Carbon Solutions is an incredibly important one, leading Woodside’s Carbon Offset and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) strategy, which includes carbon abatement planning for the Scarborough project and developing CCS plans for the Northern Carnarvon Basin, across Australia, and internationally.
Jayne is passionate about helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds and a strong supporter of Save The Children. She is a noted mentor at Woodside, has driven the company’s commitment to biodiverse native tree planting and is dedicated to ensuring Indigenous training and employment opportunities in Woodside’s Native Reforestation Project. Jayne is also a successful and prolific author, publishing fiction under the name Jayne Lyons.
