Outstanding Woman in Resources Award

This category recognises an outstanding woman’s achievements in her career, leadership skills, resilience in overcoming barriers and accepting new challenges. It also recognises her contribution to the resources sector and broader community.

Eligibility: Nominees must be 31 years of age or over as at 31 December 2021

Outstanding Young Woman in Resources Award

This category acknowledges an outstanding young woman recognised as an emerging leader, who has achieved significant career milestones in their career to date. It also recognises her contribution to the resources sector and broader community.

Eligibility: Nominees must be 30 years of age or under as of 31 December 2021

Outstanding Company Initiative Award

This category recognises a company that has demonstrated a commitment to increasing the proportion of women in their workplace through the implementation of a gender diversity program, initiative or suite of broader initiatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHO CAN ENTER THE CME 2022 WOMEN IN RESOURCES AWARDS (WIRA)?

Nominations are open to all women working in the resources sector. Nominees do not have to work for a CME member company.​

WHO SHOULD submit THE NOMINATION?

Nominations must be submitted by a colleague, professional contact or company and the candidate must have knowledge of the application.​

WHEN DO NOMINATIONS CLOSE?

The closing date for nominations is Friday 29 October 2021.

WHO JUDGES WIRA?

Approximately 40 people are involved in the judging process at various stages. They include members of the CME Diversity & Inclusion Reference Group, previous WIRA winners and finalists, and other senior representatives from the resources sector.

WHEN WILL I BE ADVISED IF I AM A FINALIST?

All finalists for each category will be announced on Monday 10 January 2022.​

HOW CAN I BOOK TO ATTEND THE PRESENTATION DINNER?

Tickets will be on sale from Friday 29 October 2021.

The entry process encourages individuals and companies to reflect on their achievements and the impact they have made to help encourage the participation of women in the WA resources sector.

Individuals

Past finalists and winners say their involvement in the Women in Resources Awards has provided opportunities to form new networks and new career experiences. Their increased profile has also provided opportunities for speaking engagements, sharing ideas and mentoring others, both in and outside the sector. 

Companies

Recognising and celebrating the successes of their employees and initiatives have enabled companies to build upon their brand as employer of choice and be recognised for their gender diversity leadership. They have experienced opportunities to promote their company both within and outside the sector through speaking engagements and the media.

Judging Process

Preliminary judging – Each category is initially judged by a panel of approximately 6 representatives from the resources sector including members of the CME Diversity & Inclusion Reference Group and previous WIRA winners & finalists. There are approximately 36 preliminary judges in total who determine 3 finalists per category.

Final judging – A winner from each category is selected by a judging panel consisting of senior industry representatives including the CME CEO and President.
